Frequently Asked Questions

Dr Andrew Sarson, a long-standing resident of the Blue Mountains, identified a critical shortage of medical practitioners in this underserved region and established the service to improve access to care for the local community. The website operates as a centralised booking platform, connecting Blue Mountains residents with local doctors practising across multiple clinics from Glenbrook through to Katoomba. In addition to in-person appointments, after-hours consultations and telehealth services are available through the partner service, MedMate.

I am currently engaged in a number of employment-related and regulatory processes that are ongoing. These matters are being addressed through the appropriate formal channels and in accordance with established procedures. Given their active status, it would be inappropriate to comment on specific details, factual issues, or potential outcomes at this time.

I remain committed to engaging constructively and transparently with all relevant bodies, and to complying fully with any procedural requirements that apply. Once these processes have progressed to a stage where it is appropriate and permissible to do so, I will provide further information and updates as relevant. Until that time, I appreciate understanding and respect for the need to maintain confidentiality and procedural integrity.

For ongoing care and the assessment of non-urgent or routine medical concerns, patients are advised to consult their usual general practitioner or attend a local medical centre. These services are best placed to provide continuity of care, undertake appropriate clinical assessments, arrange investigations where necessary, and coordinate referrals to other health professionals or specialist services if required.

If you do not have a regular GP, a local medical centre can assist with establishing care and addressing both acute and chronic health issues in a timely manner. In circumstances where symptoms are severe, worsening, or require urgent attention, alternative services such as urgent care clinics or emergency departments should be considered.

If you are experiencing urgent or life-threatening symptoms, please call 000 immediately to obtain emergency assistance. This includes situations such as severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, sudden neurological symptoms, or any condition where there is an immediate risk to life or safety.

For non-urgent medical advice, support, or guidance on appropriate next steps, you may contact Healthdirect on 1800 022 222, where qualified health professionals are available to provide advice and help determine the most suitable level of care.

Alternatively, you may arrange an appointment with your usual general practitioner or attend a local medical centre for assessment, treatment, and ongoing management.

www.medmate.com.au offers a convenient way to access timely care for non-emergency health concerns.
